One warm afternoon, a seventeen-year-old boy, working part-time at Pizza Hut, pulled up in front of his house in a sleek, gleaming Porsche.
The car shimmered in the sunlight like a jewel, and his parents froze in the doorway, eyes wide with disbelief. Their hearts raced as they struggled to comprehend what they were seeing.
“Where… where did you get *that* car?” his father finally managed, voice tight with shock.
The boy leaned back casually in the driver’s seat, his expression calm, almost smug. “I bought it today,” he said simply.
His mother’s hand flew to her chest, her face pale. “With *what* money, darling? You can’t possibly afford a Porsche!”
He shrugged, unbothered. “It was used. I got a really good deal.”
She stared at him, incredulous. “*Used?* How much did you pay?”
“Twenty dollars,” he said, as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world.
Twenty dollars. The number hung in the air like a thunderclap. His mother’s jaw dropped. “Who in the world would sell a car like this for twenty dollars?”
The boy’s eyes sparkled. “The woman who just moved in a few houses up the street. I don’t even know her name. I delivered her pizza, and she asked if I wanted to spend twenty dollars on a Porsche. I said yes.”

His parents, a mixture of outrage and curiosity boiling over, didn’t wait another second. They stormed up the street, hearts pounding, ready to demand an explanation from this mysterious neighbor.
When they arrived, they found her in her garden, kneeling in the soil, planting flowers as if the world’s chaos didn’t exist.
“I’m the father of the boy to whom you just sold the Porsche for twenty dollars,” the father said, stepping forward, trying to keep his composure. “We need an explanation.”
The woman looked up, serene, a gentle smile on her lips. “I received a call from my husband this morning,” she said softly. “I thought he was away on a business trip to Florida… but he’s actually gone to Hawaii… with his secretary. And he’s not coming back.”
The mother’s face twisted in confusion. “And… how does this justify selling a Porsche to our son for twenty dollars?”
The woman’s smile deepened, quiet but sharp, like a secret finally revealed. “My husband asked me to sell his new Porsche and send him the money. So… that’s exactly what I did.”
For a long moment, silence stretched between them. The boy’s parents stood frozen, caught between shock, disbelief, and a strange, reluctant admiration. The world had just flipped upside down, and somehow, their son had driven right through it.
