Our gardeners have fallen in love with it, not only for its easy care, but also for the incredible joy it offers with its colorful flowers, which fill the house with festive vibes.
But does it really lift your spirits? If your Christmas cactus only produces a few flowers, then we might not call it blooming. Let’s help it shine!
The most effective way to create a flowering that will leave you speechless is to create winter conditions for the plant.
This means lowering the temperature to +9-10°C for about two weeks. Ideally, do this in September or October.
If you haven’t done it this year, don’t worry – there are other methods that will work just as well!
Drought triggers flowering
At this point, you can try a different, more daring trick. Place the Christmas cactus in a cool spot near a window and leave it without water for 3-4 weeks!

Don’t overdo it, though. This short period of stress will cause the plant to “prepare” for flowering, and once it gets over the stress,
its flowers will start to bloom in full force. But that’s not all. After a drought, it needs proper fertilization to bloom to its fullest.
The magic fertilization
For its best growth, the plant needs phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). You can provide it with the help of a quickly absorbed complex fertilizer.
In 1.5 liters of water, dissolve 1 teaspoon of monopotassium phosphate and water the plant. An equally effective option is a solution of ash and onion peels:
in 2 liters of water, add 1 tablespoon of ash and peels from two onions. After 3 days, the plant is ready to absorb its energy.
The spraying recipe for flowering
The Christmas cactus, which comes from the tropics, blooms there during the rainy season. Therefore, to help it bloom with abundant flowers,
you should spray it every other day until you see the first buds appear. To achieve this, create a magic solution: in 1.5 liters of water, add 1 drop of «Epina», 2 drops of iodine and 0.5 amber tablet.
This spraying will accelerate flowering and make the flowers of the Christmas cactus shine with their most intense beauty!
