When he received an invitation to a major talent show, many told him this was his chance. The “final step,” as a friend called it. If he wasn’t seen there, he would never be seen anywhere. And he believed it, or at least wanted to believe it.

The lights were blinding, the cameras followed every movement, and the audience already buzzed with excitement, waiting for “entertainment.” Not music. A show.
The host’s smile was too sharp, too practiced. A smile shaped not by sincerity, but by habit.
When he was introduced, a faint murmur spread through the room.
His clothes were simple. His shoes worn. His saxophone old, matte, as if it carried more stories than he did. And that alone was enough for the first reaction not to be curiosity, but judgment.
A few people in the audience laughed.

The boy stood there, motionless.
