Seconds from Disaster: New Jersey Cops Pull Impaired Driver Off Train Tracks Moments Before Collision
In a heart-stopping moment caught on camera, two heroic police officers in New Jersey saved an impaired driver from certain death after his car stalled on active train tracks — just moments before a speeding train obliterated the vehicle.
Shortly after midnight on Monday, Officers Devin Hinchcliffe and John Ward of the Piscataway Township Police Department responded to a report of a car dangerously stopped on railroad tracks.
What they found was chilling: a disoriented driver, clearly impaired, sitting motionless in his vehicle as the crossing gates began to lower and warning bells sounded.
With the train bearing down fast, the officers acted without hesitation. Dashcam footage shows the tense seconds as they pulled open the car door and physically dragged the driver from the vehicle.

Not a moment too soon — within seconds of the rescue, the train thundered through, slamming into the abandoned car and scattering debris in its wake.
«The officers’ quick judgment and fearless response saved a life,» the department said. «Their bravery turned what could have been a fatal tragedy into a miraculous rescue.»
The driver, whose name has not been released, survived without injury. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether he will face legal consequences for the incident.
The video, released by the police department, has since gone viral — a chilling reminder of how quickly disaster can strike, and how courage in the face of danger can change the outcome in an instant.
